DECK REMODELING
A Backyard Built for More
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Willow Grove, PA
JWD built a new composite deck across the rear of this Willow Grove, PA home, creating a larger finished outdoor area with broad steps to the yard direct access from the home.
THE PROJECT
How the Build Came Together
The project started with a completely new framed deck structure extending across the back of the home. From there, JWD installed the finished decking, built the steps, and completed the perimeter with black railing for a clean transition between the house, deck, and yard.
Expanding the Kitchen, Not the House
THE PROJECT
A Longer Galley=Better Flow
JWD removed a wall connecting the kitchen and an adjacent room and carried the galley farther through the home. The longer layout created substantially more usable counter space and cabinetry while giving the kitchen a clear sightline from one end to the other.
Built to Feel Lighter, Taller, & More Open
DESIGN & DETAILS
Two-Tone Design With Purpose
White upper cabinets keep the galley feeling bright and open, while deep green lower cabinets add contrast and character. A custom beverage station with newly gained space for additional cabinetry and an integrated wine refrigerator adds a luxury feature to the kitchen while keeping drinks and entertaining separate from the main work area.
From Tight and Narrow to Long and Open
THE FINISHED SPACE
Balancing the New Length With Visual Height
Extending the galley solved the need for more room, but JWD also considered how the longer layout would feel. The exposed wood beam, recessed lighting, and globe pendants were intentionally worked into the design to draw the eye upward, giving the ceiling a greater sense of height to balance the kitchen’s new length.
